2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T - Emissions problems - Please read
My wife and I have a 2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T. Three months ago, I had two error codes for spark plug / coil failures in cylinder 2 and 4. I replaced the two coils and all the spark plugs myself. The errors went away and the car was fine.
A few weeks later, we had a new check engine light (CEL) come on. My wife took the car to emissions and it failed. We had three generic error codes: P2402, P2400, and P2418. Two of them were for a faulty leak detection pump (LDP) and one of them was for a open circuit in the evap system / faulty canister purge valve.
I replaced the LDP myself and the P2400 and P2402 codes went away. I then got a P2418 code twice. I then replaced the purge control valve myself for the evap system. Still no luck.
I took the car to Volvo last week and they could not get the LDP to come on. They said my install was fine but the LDP wouldn't come on. They replaced the low battery and tried a new LDP pump. Nothing has worked and the car still has a CEL and I am sure won't pass emissions. They said the gas cap is fine and the fuses are fine.
I have a gut it is a wiring problem but I am shooting in the dark. I don't want to throw tons and tons of money at this, considering I have already spent over $700.
Any ideas?
