XC90 Tire Tread Life
I have a 2007 XC90, I have only been able to get 18,000 miles on a set of tires. I have been told by a Volvo dealer that this is normal tread wear. At that rate I'll be going through 2 sets of tires annually! Does anyone have an solution for longer tread life for this vehicle????
I barely got 13k off my factory mounted Pirelli Scorpions. On my current Yokohama Geolanders, I've got 22K, and they're pretty much worn out.
It's the XC90. I'm really easy on all my tires on every car i've owned, and got 40K on similar Geolanders on my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

try installing XL (extra load) rated tires (Continental and Nokian make the size), there are also cheaper alternatives, but 2 above probably would give ~30K miles.
I got 35,000 miles on my original set of Michelins. Then I got 30,000 miles on my next set of Michelin's
. American Tire recommended to go to 255/55R16XL Cooper Discoverer HTP which a apparently better for SUV/truck use and are overall stronger to carry the extra vehicle weight. They carry a 65,000 mikes warranty. They are also somewhat wider than the 235/60R18 Michelin Pilot Radials which are the OEM product. Just had the Coopers fitted, so am hoping for somewhat better results during the following years. They seem to give a very comfortable ride and are not noisy. At least they are approximately 40% cheaper than the Michelins.
