Default C70 with very odd tire wear pattern

No, I haven't traded my 950 in on a C70. A family member just stayed for an overnight visit. He has a 2007 C70 with Yokohama tires. He's had issues with other brands, including a set of Michelins that had tread/sidewall separation. I don't remember the exact mileage when that occurred, but it wasn't halfway through the treadlife warranty. He lives in Phoenix, so every tire he puts on his C70 sees some serious temperatures just sitting still.

He was telling me about this last night, and before left we took a look. Looking at these photos now, I'm thinking maybe I should have suggested doing something before he left! But here's what I saw:

Front driver's side tire - note the very odd step on the inside shoulder of the tire.

Rear passenger's side tire

I believe he's had these rotated once or twice. This is his second set of Yokohamas. Overall this car seems to be going through tires quite a bit faster than tread wear would indicate, but that might just be because he lives in the furnace that is Phoenix. I think I can see the beginnings of the odd inside step shape on one or two of the other tires.

What do you all think? Ever seen anything like this?

Yes, both the tire shop he go them from (a national chain, forget which) and the dealer have looked at it. The dealer will see it again this week. No real help.

Are they a stock size and has anyone taken a look inside the wheel well to see if anything is hitting the tire and cutting that step into it ??

I believe they are, and I'm pretty sure the dealer has checked for rubbing.

Does he happen to have the printouts from the alignments? That is a very strange wear pattern. It would have to have camber way out of spec. But front camber is not adjustable on that car. Rear camber is with the use of a new upper control arm. I've replaced several but never on one with wear that bad.
