Don't tell his mom but he has driven it some. OOOWWWW!, she was standing behind me while I was typing it and just bonked me with a frying pan.

Nice looking car... bet he can't wait to drive it!!

Now about that bump on your head from the frying pan; start with a couple of scotch and waters with your feet up and then see if the lump starts going down. If not, have a couple more, after which it won't matter

Bluemagicbus, could you put that in the form of a prescription. I wouldn't want the wife to think I was just drinking for the fun of it. Oh, since I'm from Kentucky could you change that to bourbon?

Gordon, we would like to put lowering springs on it but really don't have the funds available right now to do that. Maybe a Christmas present for him this year. Four of the eight speakers were bad so we did replace those, although I don't really consider that a modification. Interior is in great shape, except for the cover on the passenger side airbag. It's coming up in a couple of places though not really bad yet. Would like to do a strut brace to tighten up the front suspension and reduce some of the rolling in hard turns, but again this can wait. Projector lights look awesome but $350 is enough to make me choke on my chewing gum. The few body kits I've seen for the 850's dont really look that good in my opinion, so I don't see us going that route. Since it's a NA engine I don't plan on doing anything to it. Besides, a 16 year old doesn't need lots of HP under the hood. I can't really think of any other mods right now that we would be doing.

Appreciate the kind words.

You need E-codes and or the 850 Chrome or Black Jewel headlamps. Trim needs painted black as well. Yeah you dyed it but it needs painted.

If you're talking about the front bumper that is just the way the sun is hitting it. In person it looks much better.

S70, I agree about the black jewel head lamps. Do you have a spare $400 you can loan me? If so, consider the headlights a done deal.

That looks great!

For the grill, did you just rattle can it black?

Kiwi dying our trim pieces is on the list for this year. Hopefully it comes out half as good as yours.

Oh well, it never hurts to ask.

Typhoon, I took the grill out, cleaned it off, lightly scuffed it with steel wool and painted it with Krylon especially made to bond to plastic. So far looks pretty good. A few small places where road debris have nicked the paint but you have to be really close and looking to see them. An inexpensive mod that makes a big difference in the look of the car.

I know you're not getting a lot of love for those Mimas but I like them
(might be tempted to paint them anthracite). The clear corner lensesI had them
on a previous all black Saab and loved them, here is a link: the price is a little high, may find some cheaper shopping around. (http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-850/Lights-&-Lenses/Clear-Turn-Signal-Lenses/p-72-106-1600/)

How dark is that tint? I am wanting to go 30 but my state is legal to 35.
I also plan to do my front emblem the same. I just applied some Showroom
New for the bumpers and exterior trim and for my red body I like the black
over the grey. But the nice thing about SN is it comes in both colors, black
& charcoal grey, affordable and easy to apply, so we will see how long it last.

Hope your son has a great 16th, in my house it was a big deal, both boys are now 18 & 21.

FCP Groton has the E-codes for $30 a pop. The turn signal lenses that is.

S70. I went to the FCP web site. They don't have a picture of the e code lenses. I hate to sound dumb, but what is the difference between a regular and an e code light?

found this quote:

"For lenses the cutoff on the e-codes is a lot cleaner and the light is directed more efficiently. For corner lights the e-codes are clear and in the 850 version they have two bulbs as opposed to just one. You will want to go to www.sharphid.com to view pictures of all the different kinds"

Personally I don't think the e-codes are worth the money but I do like the clear corners.

Went ahead and removed the KIWI shoe dye and cleaned the bumpers before repainting with duplicolor bumper paint. Looks better.
