I bought the '02 S40 new and it was a good car and it joined the Volvo Saved My Life Club. I was stopped in traffic on the DC beltway when the person did not see that traffic had stopped and slammed into my at 45 mph. The crumple zones and WHIPS worked flawlessly and I walked away without a scratch.
