Default Clean-up issue

Good day all.
A wine bag leaked on the floor behind the passenger seat on my XC70 2010. I tried to sponge it but it still smells. I rinsed the rug and vaccumed it, but it still smells. My question is what is the baking of the rug made of? It is rubberized? Any suggestion to clean this mess?

Thanks. Bert

Take the front and rear seat out then remove the rug that has the wine in it, then to wash it, take it to a self service car wash and hang it on one of them "floor mat holders", then brush it good with "DAWN" dish soap, then after that, use the car wash rinse cycle to get all the soap out. in other words... you won't ever get the wine smell completely out without removing the rug from the car and thoroughly cleaning it. I personally do my rugs every year, its part of my preventive maintenance routine. it keeps my rugs nice and clean and really soft... oh yeah, after use Scotchgard Fabric Protector, spray it good, then rub it in with a chamois cloth...

Thank you Fataqui. Once the rug is removed, what is underneath? Some kind of absorbing foam?
