I have V8 w/ Premium sound which is almost Premium, but not quite - I would install aftermarket radio/ Head unit, but there are few things stopping me:
1. Last time I installed aftermarket head unit, I lost steering wheel controls - they never worked right w/ PAC adapter.
2. Back up system integrated w/ radio - nice feature.
3. I don't want to lose 6-disc CD changer.
4. Rear audio through the headphones is nice to have too.

My installer (who did my old SUV) suggested JL's Clean Sweep box, but it seems that You would lose Dolby digital, and also 2 amps have to be installed or at least one 4-ch amp (then you lose center speaker)

My installer did say that he had not installed one unit yet, so I don't want my Volvo be a Guinea pig.

 

If yoou take out the original radio unit you will loss also the reverse warning and somme messages (low bat). Also some wistles and bells sound trough the stereo, also will loss those. some go directly to the amp, so if you keept the original stereo but take out the amp maybe loss some of those too.

I will pass this time until somebody have the solution.

My istaller did say that input for JL box will need to come out AFTER the OEM amp. I guess that way everything (all features) stays fine, only sound quality would change.
