This is the intake pipe for the airpump. It just snaps onto the pump. Looks and sounds normal

Ok thanks, but it just doesnt seem right, its very wierd the way it sits in the engine. I was just thinking that he end of that pipe sticking downward would go into something to ...? .. maybe help air flow or something i dont know? thanks for the info

With the intake side of the pipe facing down, it helps to filter out water and debris.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know the purpose of this pump? I have a 93 with an engine out of a 98, and it doesn't have the pump.....but it does have the round thing that is mounted on the top/left side of the engine, and it is currently blocked off. I know on the older engines there is just a metal plug in this spot.

It runs for about 30 seconds to transfer exhaust gasses into the intake to help warm the engine.

The air pump injects air into the exhaust system during warm up to help burn unburned fuel that wasn't burned in the combustion chamber.
