I have a problem with 1999 S80T6.

The code is “Fifth cylinder misfired”. Dealer said that a compression in fifth cylinder is low. They charge $1000.00 to remove the head and $1000.00 to put it back, plus ~3000.00 for repair.

What should I do in this situation?

Thanks a lot!

Did they give you the compression numbers?
If so post them so I can look at them.
Are you sure it is not a bad coil?

The coil has been changed. The pressure in the 5th cylinder is 50. All others are around 170-175.

Thanks,

Did they do a wet compression test after the first one?
That will tell you it if is the rings.
Did they do a cylinder leak down test?
That will tell you if it was the valves.

They didn't do anything.

Have someone perform the wet down test and the leakdown test and take it from there. That will tell you what you need to do.
