This is my first euro car, I have been building Jeeps and Land Rovers for the past several years.

I am curious if running Mobil 1 this late in the vehicles life would be worth it, On the rovers it made any existing oil leak 10 times worse.

The motor appears to be leak free and I would like to do as much as I can to keep this car for a long time.

Oh yea, what about spark plugs and wires?

I use NGK Iridium and I'm looking to see if magnacore makes wires for my application.

Yes it is worth it to run Mobil 1.As long as you keep up with everything I've seen those engines with 350,000 miles on them.Spark pulgs are every 30,000 miles wires are pretty much when they go bad at about 100,000 miles timing belt every 70,000.These cars last a long time when taken care of.Let me know if you need any more info.

Thats hilarious, that is the same route that I just took to get my first Volvo. I sold my beloved 97 XJ sport, 3" lift 31's and bought the wife the car she wanted, V70 XC AWD.

On the topic I've heard the same thing that, I'll say with most motors that, after 65-70k you should shy away from sythetics just for the reason of leaks. I prefer to use the high milage oils that they have now and is what I used in my XJ.

Granted I'm new to Volvo seen and bought the car for the reputation that it comes with and the comfort that it has. I'll stick with the owners manual on this one. The only thing that I'm having trouble with is finding aftermarket products for the car. It is totally different then with the Jeep.
