Agreed man. The key is to make sure nothing of value is out. It is all about what they can see and how fast they can grab and go.

And in other news finally installed my boost gauge :P!!!

Replaced left outer tie rod. Was completely shot. Not taking a chance on the right side, I just ordered one.

Had that same part replaced at a shop exactly 1 year ago—after sliding off an ice road into some bushes (despite 4-wheel drive + snow tires + slow going). But as I was cruising through curvy mountain roads (hundreds of miles away from shop, too late) I began hearing a serious hiss every time I turned right (left = silent). Any theories?

Replaced the front brake rotors on Lil'Red. I swear the tire shop should have paid for these. They were find before the tire change.

Replaced right outer tie rod. Also replaced front left strut. I was able to push it in by hand and it didn't extend. Now to get it aligned as it's definitely off!
Local pull-a-part got in 3 more S80's (that's a bad sign) so I went to browse. One was a T6 Executive Edition. What a sweet car. Too bad they're a POS.

Figured out why the new fog light install isn't working... forgot to install the fog light relay.

Alignment done. It was way off. Mechanic checked all the suspension parts and said it all looked good but might consider replacing the rear shocks in the near future. I looked beneath while it was on the lift and found my next project... a hose to the oil cooler is starting to bulge around the clamps and feels spongy. Always a project....

Default Ongoing projects

I took off the mirror covers, sanded and primed. Also, a new fuel door. A couple of cans of touch up paint, code 447, should be here tomorrow. After painting will reinstall fuel door and mirror covers.

Next project is getting a couple of lower control arms from a junkyard. I have polyurethane bushings ordered. I will have the bushings pressed in. Then install the control arms.

Car has new KYB struts with new strut mounts/bushings.

I have installed new fog lights, and I have the relays and stuff. I just haven't installed the relays yet. Have installed electric heated seats. Also, won an auction for new climate control unti with controls for heated seats on ebay. Going to add all the electrical controls and take it to dealer for programming all at once.

#1) I swore at it. 158K, northeast car with original (by the looks of it, yuck) starter motor, is acting up. Hope to make it into somewhat better weather to change it.
#2) I got an inspection sticker.

Default Got my 240 volvo a/c working.

I'm the owner of a 1990 240 Volvo which A/C has not worked in 6 or 7 years, because I couldn't find any R34a. And did not want to buy 15 year old rusted cans of R34a on eBay for rip-off money

I saw this R34a replacement refrigerant
Duracool 12a by accident on the net one night last week. what the heck I give it a try, 3 cans of Freon an one can of oil-cool later my 240 Volvo ac was colder then I ever remember it's being in the 16 years I owned this car.

chilling in Philly

Changed the transmission filter. Not slipping or anything, just preventative maintenance. No crap in the pan and hardly any metal shavings on the magnet. She's good for another 200kmi.

The motor controller (for some reason labeled as a "resistor" when it seems to really be a PWModulator) burned out. So I used a light-switch and some speaker wire to attach it directly to 12 volts. Works great now after years of no AC, and only costs me about $2 instead of $80! Much more power efficient and less wasted energy. So long as you dont care about speed control you are all good. (Going to modify later on so it can be turned on with regular fan rheostat. just need at least a 10AMP relay. have not measured past 7 amperes of current on an external power supply.)
