I'm guessing it's going to be the same as my 850 just because an 98 X70 is an 850 practically, but in mine, you just have to pry the speaker covers off the door, it'll seem like your breaking them, but it's just the clips popping out of the door. The rear deck speakers you have to take off four nuts from inside the trunk, and then the whole speaker/cover lift up inside the car, and then there should be four screws that on the bottom of the cover that hold it to the speaker.

Default removing speaker covers

It will seem like you're breaking the covers, because you are! I used a bone tool and was quite careful. It might be a better idea to just take the entire door panel off.

Smile Removing speaker grills....

On my C70 the grills are attached to the door cards using speed nuts. You need to remove the door card to get to the back side of the grill (while still attached to the door panel) and loosen the speed nuts. Be careful when trying to remove the nuts, as they will break the plastic posts they are screwed to. You need to be very gentle.

I would definitely not pry on the grills from the outside. You will break them for sure, if they are like the ones on the C70's.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Ted

Default v70 speakers

Thanks for the post Ted. On my v70, the speaker covers are held in place by posts that are sort of melted on the backside. I had to shave off the globs of plastic on the inside first, then they came off. I used Gorrilla glue to put the new cover on. Don
