A brand new worm or shaft mounted gearbox delivered in as little as two days, and at a price that can often undercut the cost of a repair, is the promise of a newly launched service from Gearbox Direct.

The new service is designed to "drive down" manufacturing costs by providing gearboxes that are interchangeable and of equivalent quality to market leading brands - but without the price premium.
Based in Wakefield, Gearbox Direct offers infinite flexibility in gearbox supply with a wide range of finished parts stocked in component form.
This enables gearboxes to be assembled to customer specifications at very short notice.
The stock range is fully documented on Gearbox Direct's new website.
It includes heavy-duty wormboxes in underdriven, or vertical configurations, with centres from 5 to 14in and ratios from 5:1 to 70:1 and a wide range of standard fitting gearmotors.
All the wormboxes benefit from shafts and gears manufactured to the highest quality (ISO9002).
They also have tooth and thread forms specifically designed to ensure the closest surface contact, the minimum specific pressure, optimised oil film lubrication, maximum strength and quiet running.
Importantly, these high quality features are achieved in a package, which is competitively priced and offers the OEM or end user the security of a comprehensive warranty.
The fact that the worm and shaft mounted gearboxes can be supplied at short notice combined with their quality, breadth of the range and competitive pricing means that they are ideal units for OEM applications as original fitment on machines.
Gearbox Direct will also manufactures made to order gearboxes and gearsets for nonstandard applications.
In user markets, too, the facility of the Gearbox Direct gearboxes to interchange with leading brands provides a backup to companies who suffer breakdowns and experience difficulties in sourcing a replacement unit quickly to get production back on line.
In addition to its short delivery gearbox products, Gearbox Direct also supplies helical and bevel helical gearboxes to order on more standard market lead times.
These, like the worm units, are manufactured to ISO9002, are very competitively priced and carry a two-year warranty.
