Volvo 960 '97 - Alarm Issues - Volvo Forums

Hello,
Until a few days ago the 960 was running without a problem for 210K.

Issue:
1. Can lock/unlock the car with the remote - yet, an intermitant issue with lights flashing, yet still operates (only occured)
2. Insert the key into the ignition and and try to turn over the motor
3. A very loud clicking sound can be heard from the engine what I think may be the alternator?

I am not sure if the alarm is faulty through age, or the imobilisor may have initiated due to another related problem.

Any assistance appreciated.

Clicking noise usually associated with either weak battery (Autozone can test to see if OK) or starting motor. Sometimes starting motor freezes up and a whack with a wrench will break it loose.

Replaced the battery with a new one and every thing worked per normal.
