I have learned that at least two companies were contracted to make factory radios for Volvo -- Alpine Electronics and Mitsubishi Electric Automotive. Here is a short list of model no(s).

SC-810 -- ALPINE
SC-811 -- ALPINE
SC-815 -- MITSU
SC-816 -- MITSU
SC-901 -- ALPINE

If there is a FCC ID number sticker on the unit, you may be able to find the manuf. by seaching at: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid

I spoke with a Customer Service Rep at Alpine this afternoon -- 800-421-2284

They confirmed that Alpine was contracted to make factory radios for Volvo.

They have an authorized service center dedicated just for factory OEM radios.
The service center is located in New Jersey -- 800-874-8858

They also provided a short list of Authorized Alpine Car Audio Service Centers. I have no idea whether this includes OEM Volvo.

Audio Video Service Labs in Virginia Beach, VA
United Radio Service in Syracuse NY

I spoke with a manager. He confirmed that this Alpine Service Center works exclusively on factory OEM units. He confirmed that Volvo SC-810, SC-811, and SC-901 are made by Alpine. He stated that SC-815 and SC-816 are NOT Alpine units.

I have reason to believe that Volvo SC-815 and SC-816 are made by Mitsubishi Electric Co.
Still searching for an authorized service center for Volvo SC-815 and SC-816.

BTW -- Cost of Repair of SC-810 and SC-811 is $96 using UPS ground.

I spoke with a tech at United Radio Services. They are familar with SC-815 and SC-816, as well. Most repairs cost less than $185. Unit will be fully bench tested.

Provide a short description of the problem.
Provide the radio access code.
Provide phone number and ask for estimate.
Provide return address.

Mitsubishi does not have an authorized service center dedicated just for factory OEM radios.

They have contracted with... for all car audio repairs.
