Front End Vibration

Front End Vibration
I am having an intermitent vibration in the front end. The first time I noticed it was when it was snowing and I thought I had a piece of ice stuck somewhere causing it. Then it happened to my wife one time and scared the heck out of her. It feels like the front end is going fall off the car. Yesterday it happened to me again. I was on the Interstate and it started at around 70 mph. There was an accident and I had to come to a quick stop. When I was barely moving the steering wheel would pull real hard to the left and then straigten out. It did this for quite a while and then just stopped. Started doing the same thing on the way home last night, but did not do it all coming to work this morning.
My gut feel is that I have a caliper that is sticking. The fronts were replaced about 50,000 miles ago with OEM calipers. I just ordered a new set of pads for the front and back that I will put on this weekend. What should I look for, and can the calipers be repaired? Since the vibration goes away and it feels fine then, I am thinking this is not anything real serious or dangerous. What do you think?

RE: Front End Vibration
About the only way the check it is to turn the wheel a little and see if it try's to fight you hard to go back. One other way to check it to jack up the front end. Then reach in and start the car watch the steering wheel and see if it turns one way by it self.Do not start it through the wheel.Reach around it.I have heard of people getting hurt trying it reaching through the wheel.

While you have it up, check the ball joints and the rest of the front end for obvious damage. Does it only happen at a certain speed or only when you're braking? Information like that can help narrow down potential causes. It very well could be a sticking caliper. If it happens at certain speeds it could be an out of balance tire or something simple like that too.
