I assume most of you have MP3 Players or iPods/Phones or something that stores music with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also a tapedeck in your S40 like mine does.
If you got that, run to your local electronics store or maybe even some dollar stores.. get the tape deck that like goes into the tape deck and has a wire with a 3.5mm jack where you insert into your audio device.
It works perfect, I have found that for most devices, usually around 60-75% volume level on the audio device is perfect sound quality. The rest of the volume just control with your indash audio controls. =]
I'm currently using a Belkin one and it is AWESOME!

i use this. connects direct through the antenna (spliter type jack) and has an external on off switch that you can mount where you would like, and then a headphone jack coming out of it.
works great.

rCwuu--The 2004.5 and up doesn't have a tape deck--they switched to the slim center so I assume there wasn't room for one.
Tony--Do you have any idea where to install such a thing on the 2004.5 and up? I have an 05 and am trying to find anything other than an FM transmitter that doesn't cost tons/require extensive rewiring.

The 2009 S40 standard sound system comes with aux and USB inputs...plugged in an iPod and was able to control it from the car. Nice since there isn't a CD changer...
