1998 Volvo S70 - Brake Issues
I started here a few days ago and got some great advice on where to look at resolving my power issues. So I now have the car running and will bring the Volvo on to check on the codes by the end of the week. One issue since the car sat for 6 weeks was that now there seems to be brake issues that, when stepping on the pedal you get a thumping and vibration which appears to be coming from the rear brakes. Removed the tires and spun the rotors but didn't hear or see anything that could be causing this. Took it for a ride and the noise and rumble/vibration was still there. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue and would love to hear what sort of response this posts gets so I can resolve my issue. This happened to me when I was coming off the highway so I thought it was the brake pads and replaced them. When I did I saw there was still a lot of meat on them. Now, I only get that noise when I brake and I'm turning. I don't know what it is.
By the way I have owned my volvo for a full year and I love it, but it's now starting to give me some problems. It's a 98 volvo s70 non turbo

not uncommon for rotors to accumulate a little rust when the car is sitting. Problem is, they don't rust under the pads so you get a small clear patch. You can either drive the car until the normal usage cleans the rotors or take some 200+ emory cloth to deglaze then rinse with brake cleaner. you can also remove the pads and deglaze as well, then use brake lube on the pins and backs of the pads.
