Angry 1998 s70 Issues

My wife and I were given a 98 s70 non turbo. It has a couple of issues that I need to solve hopeful that some one can lead me in the right way.

1. No Heat. I have tried to flush the heater core out with no success so I went ahead and replaced it and still no luck on the heat. Someone said that i may need to replace the thermostat. Not sure about that .
2. None of the instrument lights(Cluster Lights) work when lights are on. Fuse 35 keeps blowing. Tried taking dash out to look for short and can't seem to get the passenger side to come loose all the way seems like one bolt of some sort is holding it in.

Thanks for any help in these problems as I am new to owning a volvo any help would be appreciated.I'm becoming frustrated with these problems.

Hello

When I bought my 1999 S70 last fall the heat was not working also. It was blowing cold air. I took it to the Volvo dealer and they said the thermostate was bad. They replaced it and ever since I have been getting super hot heat. So it should not be ruled out.

So I replaced the thermostat and still no heat. Any one got any other ideas? My wife would be really happy... Is there any doors that are controled by a cable that when you go from hot to cold that could be broke or missing?

Does the fan blow at all? Is the heater core bypassed? Does the car heat up properly? Is the coolant level high?

I figured out what that cause was. Is was the flaps that controls each side the cable is slack.
