V40 1.8 Average Running Temp
Hi everybody.
I have a V40 1.8 2000 (x reg) and have had problems with the cooling system not getting hot enough (sticky thermostat). When I replaced the thermostat the car seems to be running a bit hot, so i was wondering what the average running temperature for the car is?
(The Temp it seems to run at is between 90 and 93 C)

the thermostat opens at 90C so that's pretty much about right... when you say hot, you mean the VIDA readings or the top of the engine seems pretty hot to the touch? mine does too and I suspect a clogged oil cooler (pan oil sludge) causing the oil to be too hot - not the same as the coolant temp which cools down the engine block.

Also, it's normal to have the upper radiator hose much warmer now that the t-stat fully closes. when the t-stat it's stuck open, coolant continuously runs through the radiator, and the lower radiator hose is almost cold. with a properly working t-stat, the lower hose is hot, just a bit less hot than the upper one.
It's a good idea to check on the old t-stat the stamped temperature and compare with the replacement part.
