Question 1998 v70 parts availability?

Hey guys! I'm new here and the first thing i would like to talk about is parts availability. Besides going to the junkyard(cant find these cars in any yards around me anyway) I'm looking for the complete driveshaft. The original one had snapped and the previous owner stupidly cut both rear cv's and tied up the driveshaft. Also finding rear cv's is hard enough! any help would be great!

I'm certain you will find the cost of a new/reman driveshaft (plus the labor to install) will be about what you can buy a complete car for - so it really does not make economic sense for an owner to spend more than the car is worth on repairs or a parts supplier to keep those parts available. Here's a "low mileage" awd car you can get for best offer.

This is not advice, obviously. It looks like Dorman offers that driveshaft for $650 and Cardone rear axles rebuilt for $85 each. That's going to be the cheapest option. I would be concerned, before I laid my money down, that the AWD system wasn't actually working even if all these parts were replaced. I don't have one, so I'm not saying they never work, but there are some other fragile items in that system. YMMV.

Winter just rolling in and wondered how the project went. I think this outfit is still doing rear AWD driveshafts:

Considering using their service soon.
How did the repairs turn out?
