i just inherited a 1999 V70 base (non turbo, no AWD, no fun stuff) driving from SF to las vegas, the car had little to no power climbing the grapevine and the 15 into nevada. i had a 90 240 wagon before and it was similar to that car. is there something wrong? car runs fine otherwise, no CELs, no smoke, new plugs, timing belt/WP done at dealer, but i think the fuel filter is old, so i might try to change that first, but are they always this gutless climbing hills? or is there some other maintenance issue that i need to take care of before giving up and dealing with the low acceleration power

 

Air filter ?

 

Likely poor maintenance. Check the air filter, fuel filter, etc. Scanning it probably wouldn't hurt either, even if there is no CEL.
