My trans suddenly stopped and the forward arrow came on. When it cooled down (not overheated), but normal operating temp it would go another mile then quit. My question is: could it be something other than the trans? In addition when I bought the car 2 years ago the drive shaft had been removed and it performed fine. If I need another trans could I use a FWD trans instead of the AWD trans as I don't need AWD? The FWD trans is less than 1/2 of the AWD version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should work. You may need a new right hand axle to fit the seal properly.

Replaced thr trans with a 98 FWD and new axle. Works fine except the following codes are coming up alond with the check engine light which won't allow inspection.
P1618-----fault in lead between AW5052 and MOTROME 4.3

P717
turbine/input
shaft speed
sensor ciscuit
no signal

Any info or help with problem would be greatly appreciated
