2000 V70 front WHIPS headrest removal - impossible?

2000 V70 front WHIPS headrest removal - impossible?
Hello everybody. New here.
I have a 2000 V70, and am trying to remove the front headrests to install seat covers. All of the information I can find on headrest removal is for 2001 and beyond, and show some tabs hidden behind the upholstery on the back of the seat. You push them and it unlocks the rods, and you pull it up. For the life of me, I can't find anything similar (or different) on this 2000 V70 to allow me to remove the headrest.
Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
