Default 98 v70 smoking question

I have a 98 v70 5 cylinder turbo auto. I just changed the oil and it smokes when its cold but goes away once its warmed up. I was wondering if it could be the valve seals and how hard those are to replace or if its something else maybe. Thanks for any information!!

are you consuming oil? if you lock it in a low gear and wind it out to 5000 rpm and let off the gas, does it push out smoke? Replacing valve seals are easy, but the hard part is pulling the head off the car :-) Its essentially part of doing a valve job, so once the head is off you'd want to have it checked for flatness, reseat the valves etc. Its a lot cheaper to add a quart as needed. What I'd do as a next step is have a compression test done (wet/dry) to make sure the rings are in good shape and to get a sense of how solid the bottom end is.
