Default 98v70 turns over but won't start

My 98 V70 sat idle for 2 mos while I was out of town I went out to start it and it will crank over but will not start, well I first thought either fuel pump fuse , relay or pump in that order. Checked the fuse OK, replaced relay still won't start, next checked the pump, diconnected the connector checked for voltage nothing. I checked the pump with aux 12 volt power source pump runs fine. Checked the connectors for the relay no voltage with ignition on or when cranking, then I checked the fuse connectors again no voltage. Now I'm out of ideas, anybody have this problem or know what to check next, I don't have a wiring diagram to trace back to the next piece of the puzzle.

Have you checked the fuel lines? Its possible, especially after letting a car sit, that gas could coagulate in the lines. In that case, just take them off and use an air compressor to blow out the sediment. Can't tell you how many times that's happened to my lawnmower sitting in the shed over winter.

Chances are you have a bad CPS. It will stop your fuel pump from coming on as well. Do you have spark?

I've done some more testing and discovered that I don't have spark either and when I connected my ODBII reader I am getting a message that it is unable to establish a connection. Would this still be caused by an bad CPS?

CPS will stop spark. When our S70 failed to start I got a CPS from a junk yard for $5. When I went to unplug our old one, the plug fell apart in my hand.

Would a bad cps effect the connection of the ODBII to the ecm? I just put in a ECM that I got from Erie VoVo, they are only 10 mi from here , and still nothing, not start , and same message as before " can't establish connection to ecm" on my ODBII . Getting very frustrating.

No, that's not the issue. You likely need to set the scanner to the system and you'll be fine.

If you keep trying to start the motor without success, you may drylock the motor. That will cause other issues.

No I haven't let it crank any more than a few seconds. Not sure about what you are saying Re : "set the scanner to the system" I've had this scanner on this car several times before and it has always registered and gave me a readout.

Oh, well, I don't think the code reader connecting has anything to do with it not starting.

Default 98v70 turns over but won't start update

Hers's another update I just noticed that when I turn on the ignition w/out cranking the CHECK ENGINE light does not come on hence the reason that the odbII scanner is not reading the ECM. I've checked every fuse that I can see that is related to the ECM all good.
