AC-Problems
Hi,
New to the forum, live in Norway, driveing a 1999 V70 2,5 10V.
Resently the AC has started to fail.
It works in 5 to 10 minutes, seems to be dependent on outside temperature. Getting really nice and cold, but then the compressor will not engage anymoore.
There is no chlutch engagement any more, but when engine on ildle, you can heare the rpm rise to meet the demand for power as it should clutch in.
After waiting a period, the ac works for another 5 to 10 minutes, before takeing a new brake.
It is not a clutch issue I think, as it does not even try to engage!
The system was emptyed and pressure-tested today, with no leaks, refilled with the right amount of gas.
But problem stays same! Any suggestions?
Brgds,
Karl

I've heard that when the compressor gets hot with regular use it expands causing the clutch to disengage because the electromagnet on the comPressor is to far away to be magnetized and therefore the compressor shuts off. I've also heard you can shim your compressor to fix the problem....I can't exPlain how because I've never done it : /
