So I parked my car, and a sinkhole opened under the front passenger tire 30 seconds later. It was on private property so they called a towing company who had to send 2 trucks to get it out best they could. Nose damage was unavoidable I had it flatbedded to my mechanic to make sure there are no mechanical/suspension issues. It was resting on the frame horn so I hope that's fine. SO- where would be the best place to attempt to find a bumper that would replace the scratched one? All suggestions welcome!! There was nothing wrong with my baby aside from a broken air dam before To get the car out they had to wedge a flatbed under the nose/front bumper, which scraped the whole thing. I asked about an airbag to lift it, but the macadam integrity was questionable so that wouldn't work.
bumpers have a plastic cover - so as long as you didn't damage the internal part of the bumper or the mounts you have a couple of options
1) check with an auto paint supply company regarding kits to repair digs in the plastic and to source paint with the correct additives (to make the paint flexible)
2) check with a body shop who specialize in bumper repair about a cost to repair/respray
3) consider buying a replacement bumper cover - eBay etc sell both new unpainted and some stores sell them prepainted to match your car.
4) If you need to replace the skin and internals you can consider going used - but risk getting somebody else's scratches. car-part.com is a good search tool to price out what a recycle yard has local to you.
Big question on which approach is whether you are planning on doing the work yourself or have a local pro do the effort. Paint shop may be able to recommend a good bumper shop...
