so my E30 blew a head gasket,and i didn't have time to rebuild the engine because i deliver pizza 6 days a week.plus im saving up money to slap a V8 in to my E30 Vert.so i borrowed 1500 bucks from a friend went to a used car dealership and i got a V70 wagon with 167k miles on it ive probably put around 300 miles now so iam at 168k with 100 something in change i think iam the second owner if not third.questions are

HOW long can these 5 Cyl engines last?
WHAT maintenance issues shouldn't be overlooked?

Congrats on the "new" V70.
The 5 cyl can last hundreds of thousands of miles if taken care of:
1) change the oil regularly (by the book)
2) keep the tranny fluid nice and pink/red by doing regular drain and fills (my opinion)
3) regular maintenance by the book overall
4) check the timing belt to see if it was changed recently, having an interference engine makes timing belt changes the cheaper alternative.

2. PCV system.
3. Oil changes every 5,000 miles or less and good oil filters (oem or mann).

What year and trim car do you have? They are not that good on gas but hold up real well. I know of some with over 500k on the original engine and transmission.

 

i sitll have my wagon i got 179K miles on t but dam thing is slow!!!!

any software that i can download to tune the A/T and Engine ?
i only mess with BMW so all i got is INPA,Ediabas,SSS,DIS,GT1,CARSOFT,etc etc LOL ohhh and tuner pro for EEMPROOM chips but only have BMW Maps to tweak :\

any DIY intakes for it ? or sould i just get an OEM style K&N filter?

can i do any cam swaps on this B5254S?

Any Exhaust mods i should do for a lil more UUUMPPPH?

and gas milage SUCKS!!!!!! anyway i can swap a bigger maf or different Intake manifold?
