So I'm helping an acquaintance who is inheriting this wagon from his late father by way of his recently deceased mother. Strange story. In any case, it ran fine back in '08 from what I understand. Sat in a mid-Atlantic garage the whole time.
My first Volvo to wrench on, but many other cars in the past.
Pumped out the bad (oh so bad) gas, changed the oil, new battery, fired right up to a rhythmically surging engine like so:
Not a V70, yes, but similar behavior.
CEL, and ETS. Forgot my code reader, but did some reading on ETS. It seems with only 39k miles the ETS wouldn't be worn out physically. Could it still have gone bad? When next I get out to help I'll be removing it for inspection, along with the MAF.
Other than that the brakes go to the floor (easy enough). And that's it. Could be a decent car for the right person and the right money. Shame, the tires were nearly new (Michelins) when it was parked.
Thanks!
