After an unfruitful search, I must ask a question. Apologies if I overlooked anything.

So! :-)

The driver door latch release on my '98 V70 doesn't actuate. A pull moves it a millimeter or so inward, then feels like it encounters something very solid, as if mechanically locked. Occurs when door closed or open.

The exterior door latch release and the locks work as should.

If anyone can offer some insight, I'd be mighty grateful.

If the outside works, opens and closes the door but the inside does NOT. It is likely a problem with your interior door latch cable. I have one if you need it, you can have it. PM me your address.

The latches are easy to remove and inspect. I have one of those as well.
