Needing help with diagnosing clanking sound
My 1999 v70xc started making a very loud and obnoxious clanking sound.
is a video that I got which displays my problem. It only makes noise when under load and on decel, but only sometimes. This just happened to be a really bad day. I’m 99% sure it’s coming from the front driver side. When I jacked the car up I started looking for anything that looked out the ordinary but found nothing. I began moving every part that could possible move and was worried about
. I have zero experience with Volvos since this is my first. When I bought the car it came with an extra transmission that he pulled from a junkyard since the one in the car doesn’t have reverse. I was planning on swapping it anyways once I got a chance. Anyone else have a similar issue and if so, what was the issue? Thanks!

Do you have the rear driveshaft installed? It's turning a lot faster than the axles and so that's a clue if you can't think of anything that could clank quite that fast. They don't have a reputation for being real noisy, but the sleeve between the final drive and the angle gear has a reputation for wearing completely out to the point of total failure.
