Speedometer sensor replaced: still problems

Default Speedometer sensor replaced: still problems
V70 '99 GLT: Mechanic 'warned' replacing sensor may not solve its intermittent failure---other dashboard lights come on too when it 'disconnects.'

He was right. He'll look at it again. Forum notes 'cluster' and 'gear'. Is this a possibility?

What speedometer sensor?

99 would be using the ABS signal for speed.
