V70 Radiator replacement
Hey everyone,
I just picked up a 1998 v70 GLT with about 145K on the engine, there was a pretty bad leak coming from the passengers side top corner of the radiator. I picked it up cheap and now Im hoping that I can drop the radiator without any serious issues.
Is there any items/issues that I should look out for?
Are there any good links that can be shared that have pictures?
Im pretty sure Im going to have to put her up on stands and lower the radiator but to tell you the truth Im not sure.
Any help would be appreciated, I used to have a 850 wagon and I wanted to get another but I picked the v70 for a $1,000 cash so I figured WTH.

It is fairly straightforward. The only real "gotcha" is the left hand mounting bolt. Acid tends to wash off of the battery and it drains right onto the bolt. The nut is pressed in and should be captive but the cruddy threads will often break the captive nut free. The only way I have been able to deal with that problem is to use a Dremel tool to cut the nut off. I just get a large nut and bolt and a couple of fender washers to replace it after I finally get the old one out.
The two upper bolts that sandwich the condenser, intercooler, and the radiator together are hidden behind the cowl. I just loosen the main mounting bolts about half way and then tilt the assembly back to get access to the bolts. A bungee cord is handy to suspend the condenser coil after you remove the radiator and intercooler. I remove and replace the radiator and the intercooler as one while they are bolted together.

Ozark, thanks for the reply. I appreciate that advice, I ended up soaking that nut all weekend with PB and it came off with a little persistence. To tell you the truth I had a harder time trying to figure out what radiator to buy (too many options out there for this vehicle).
