04 V70 No Start
Aloha Vobros,
I have a weird no start issue with my 04 v70 non turbo. I would really appreciate some help because it's currently stuck in my driveway. A little background: I live in Hawaii and my v70 has been my faithful beach car for many years the car was in mediocre condition with 210,000 miles. For the most part all the issues were cosmetic, which I don't really care about. It was my beach car to haul surfboards to and from the beach while allowing me to lock them safely inside when I stopped at places. It was previously running, but the front end suspension components needed replacement very badly. So I parked it and got too work. 4-5 months later everything is back together, battery died because I'm an idiot. Easy problem to fix, charge battery, attempt to start, and nothing.
Here's what I know and have done so far. With key in ignition everything checks out as normal for this car. The little lcd says the "normal" messages time for regular service and srs airbag service urgent. Fuel system primes, turn the key to start, hear a few clicks, and nothing. Hook up the cheap OBD2 check for any codes. No codes present. Check starter relay, seems to be fine electrically also checked all fuses I can find and all seem intact. Jumper the relay and the starter works. Swap relay with ecm relay, still no start. Another thread mentioned jumping the starter relay with key turned to start. Engine fires up, but does after a few seconds. Seems to be something electrical between the key, ignition, cem, and ecm. Do the dummy check for DTCS in vehicle. This is where it gets weird to me, all the modules have DTC set except tcm, ecm, and ccm. Those three stay on checking regardless of how long I wait. Due to another thread, I removed and reinstalled the tcm and ecm to reseat them in their connectors. Still the same. I was thinking immobilizer, but the only issue I've ever had with it was due to seawater damage to the key I surf with and it gave me the start failed try again message on the lcd.
At this point I am out of ideas, so here I am asking for help. Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this and have a solution? I really loved this car because it's perfect for my use.
Also before someone asks, no I don't have a dice or vidas. No I'm not getting them either. This is a 20 year old car I take to the beach and back. I love it, but if there's not a easy economical fix I'm unfortunately going to scrap it.
