2001 V70.

About a month ago I was pulling the driver's side door handle to get out, and felt/heard a pop. I had to roll down the window and use the exterior handle to get out. I pulled open the door panel and found that the cable that goes from the latch to the handle had popped out of the socket in the handle. None of the clips were broken like I've found a lot of people mentioning in various forums. In fact the whole thing was sill clipped in fine, just the short cross-wise piece of metal on the end of the cable was not engaged anymore, and was blocking the handle from retracting fully now too.

I got it re-seated into the handle, and all was fine for close to a month until this morning when it happened again. I did the same fix (still nothing actually broken), and the next time I went to get out it happened yet again.

Any suggestions for a real fix (aside from going to the dealer...they've gotten enough of my money thanks)?
