Inside door handle inop - outside handle works
We have a 1998 S70. The inside front passenger door handle jammed the other day and will not work at all. The outside handle works fine. Has anyone experienced this before AND are there any tips on taking off the door panel so we can check it out. We are not auto repair savy except when it comes to paying our machanic to fix something, that we seem to do well. We are trying to save some money and fix it ourselves. Thanks!

To get the door panel off remove the inner handle trim ring. Then where you grab to close the door there is a little cover. Remove the cover and the t-25 screw. Then the rest of the panel is held in with clips carefully pull the panel loose and slide it up to remove it.
Then check where the cable attaches to the inner handle. The cable usually pops off the inner door handle. Resecure the cable sometimes you need to drill a small hole and use a small wiretie.

I took off all 4 of the door panels on our S70 and you may want to pick up a few clips (I would get at least 3) from the steelership and some liquid nail. Every door panel I took off resulted in at least 2 broken clips that went through the metal and 3 or 4 brackets came loose from the inside of the panel. I just pressed them back on with the liquid nail and installed new clips. Things get brittle & fragile in these older cars.
