I cant open the door from the inside when sitting in the back seat. My daughter has broken yet another car door handle. 3 cars have had the same problem and not all have been volvo´s.
Guess the problem is my daughter.

Model 2006 XC70 D5, door should be the same as a V70.

1. has anyone had the same problem?

2. should i try to fix it myself?

Currently the handle will not return to original position and is half hanging out.
Door locks normally and is working normally in all possibilities but just not opening from the inside.

any useful help is appreciated

 

It depends on what broke. I had a similar problem with my drivers door. The clip that holds the door handle and cable is what broke. This clip is actually part of the interior trim panel, and if not replaceable on it's own. a new panel must be purchased, my quoted price was $280 for the panel alone.

I used high-strength epoxy to mend the clip and hold it in place, and it has held up for over 6 months like this with daily use.

I would guess that the rear doors are made the same.

 

I had the door handle removed on mine, I took that panel off, cut the linkage that normally pulls down on the door latch and flipped it so it goes up instead, drilled a hole in the door by the window, and that linkage sticks up through that, and I bought a 99 cent push button door lock **** and stuck it on that, so I can open the door from the inside, and I have pop out windows so I can also just flick the window open and hit the button to open it from the outside as well.
