Default 2002 V70 frozen odometer and “brake failure stop safely” message

2002 v70 bought this car recently and test drive was fine. Odo working fine and no warning on the cluster, drive home after purchase and noticed the miles were frozen. Also noticed a message on the left side of cluster “brake failure stop safely”.

seen folks say it’s the abs control module. I’ve taken the cluster out and sent out for repair for odometer correction but when I received it back and installed in my car the odometer is still frozen. Any help is appreciated.

thanks,

Rather than using the guess, buy, replace, cuss, guess, buy, replace, cuss repair method - Your first step should be to scan the car with a compatible scan tool that can talk to all of the control units in the car. With that info develop a rational diagnostic path.

Who did you send the DIM to? (instrument cluster) I would think a quality service such as xemodex would have tested the odometer and reported whether if worked or not.

Sent the DIM to automotive circuit solutions for the dim repair service. I don’t have access to a level 3 scan tool or vida, do you think if I drive the car to the Volvo dealership near me they quipped give me a hard time?

the car gives me no engine lights only the yellow warning ⚠️ triangle and stop safely. And stays on while I drive.

did you scan for codes with a scanner capable of reading ABS codes? If you have an Autozone etc near you, see if they loan out a better scanner. Also many Volvo friendly indy's will do a simple scan for free or a nominal charge.
