I have a 2003 V70 2.5T AWD with 138K miles. The LCD display in the tachometer of the DIM has stopped functioning (the backlighting). This is the display which indicates the time, temp and what gear is selected.

Is there a simple DIY fix for this? I see that XeMODex, BBA Remanufacturing and EuropeanElectric do rebuilds on on these DIMs. Any experience with any of these vendors? I am happy to go that route if there is not a simple DIY fix available.

Solved my own problem. I pulled the DIM out of the dashboard (several vids on YouTube). Took 10 minutes and 4 T-25 Torx screws. On the back of the DIM you can see where there are several light bulbs. Well, a trip to the dealer and $5.75 later all fixed.

I was fully prepared to send the unit off to be rebuilt.
