Hello,.
Let me start by saying this isnt a thread for member that are lacking experance this is is 120hrs at 2 shops and volvo Dealer failed to be able to repair issue. i have a V70 that will not recieve a reload for both the DEM and ABS or BCM depending on who you are. the High bus can system shuts down after about 30 seconds it has no short to ground or power, i has 2.8V across both lines, it has 60 ohms of resistance. there are no blown fuses and no broken wires, i have a list of codes about 15 deep and there all ard faults. i have replaced both DEM and BCM i have sent the CCM out to Xomodex to be check it was giving a clean bill of health, the car runs and shifts fine. until the can bus drops. i literally just came from our local volvo dealer. 5 hours and they couldnt find any issue. they also couldnt reload the BCM or DEM. clambing that the system would go down. im now turning to the world of volvo people. as an 18 year teck and avid volvo lover this REALLY PISSED MY EGO THE F*** OFF
thank you in advance for the advice and feel free to ask any questions.

I had an issue with my Mk3 V70, the ABS lights and dash looked like a Christmas tree from time to time. The problem was the ABS pump unit under the master cylinder. It took me almost an hour to remove and disconnect the pump unit, remove the cover, (with reasonable force a Dremmel), re-solder the many dry joints and put it all back together. The ABS has not failed since.
That was five years ago!

What kind of tech have you been for 18 years?
You're an avid Volvo lover and you just joined?
How many miles are on this car? Do you think it may have been completely immersed in water at some point?
120 hours has to equate with ~$12,000 in service billing.
Where is the shop and dealership you went to?
Do you have the list of codes? Are these codes generic or are they Volvo specific? Also, do you have a reader?
After clearing codes it's a real big help to drive the car and read (and clear) any codes as they come along.
Super calamitous conditions have been caused by bad solder joints in the ABS unit as Jon Snell above mentioned. If you're up to it, get an E5 socket (external torx) and remove the ABS controller. There are companies which resolder them if you don't want to.

First thank you for the replies. Second not all people need to be on a forum to do normal issues. we currently have 5 volvos starting with a 90 240 Ls8.1L then a 2002,3,4 v70 XC and we have 2 V70s . I own half the shop so this is my personal time that logged. i do have a Vida tool and do pay for a subsctiption to it. i do have a list of codes. that i hadnt got to posting yet. as far as the ABS and CEM AND DEM. ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW COMPONENTS as i mentioned before. the car will shut down the CAN BUS after about 30 senconds into the Download. otherwise it runs fine.
The Dealership was Almartin in Burlington Vermont the same trusted dealer i have used for several years to address issue before i got my VIDA. When i get the car back in here i will save the full down load and upload it so everyone can see exactly what the codes list at.

I love people who come on forums and say "Help! I'm desperate! I tried everything and have a bunch of codes!", brag about how much experience they have and don't give a complete list of what was done and what codes they have. Then when people ask for details not provided, they get an attitude. You never mentioned the CEM in your first post. Good luck.

time to start googling. Did you see Hacking Volvo - they have some interesting discussions on CAN BUS functions and you can probably post your questions there as well. I also liked how Olaf's avatar looks suspiciously like Richard Dean Anderson LOL.

CEM= Sent to Xemodox and got a clear bill of health
RMA 1 RELAY= REPLACED
Electric load drop test preformed between CEM and DEM also Between CEM and BCM, ECM, TCM.
No high canbus to throttle body
High canbus complete system has 60 OHMS resistance, 120 ohms if your unplug the BCM or the TCM independently.
All circuits have 12Vs with KOEO and 14.5V with KOER
Voltage over the high can is 2.8V with the KOEO.
Removed Windshield tray and wiper transmission to insure CEM connector was clean and corrosion free.
DEM Wiring from rear drivers side seat to DEM module was removed and REPLACED.
As i stated before this isn't a module not working issue this is a RELOAD failure issue. The car allows information to move freely but will not allow VIDA to upload.
