Hi all,

New on this forum, and new to Volvo's as this 2004 V70R 6 speed with 75k miles is my first (bought 8 days ago). Bought it off a mechanic, and everything was just fine. Love the car, definite wolf in sheep's clothing.

Started snowing today and the roads were getting pretty slippy/slushy. Was doing about 30MPH when it seemed like the AWD was acting strange. Handling started getting weird, felt like the traction control was going a bit bonkers. Then this repeating thumping noise started which then turned into a high pitched whine. Pulled the car over (lots of fun in the snow storm, on busy freeway, with wife and 2 kids).

Engine seems fine, no overheating and idling just fine. No messages, lights etc... Was able to get going again and the noises were gone, but after limping slowly along for a few minutes, same thing again. Was able to finally pull over to a parking lot and get a cab home.

At this point will be getting it towed to the shop. Just wondering if anyone on the forum has ever encountered something similar. Searched through the forum but didn't find anything.
