Aircon not working after recharge

Aircon not working after recharge
I have just had my V70 air conditioning recharged, and it has come back not working at all. The technician said the air quality sensor was not working, and quoted a fault code of CCM-0040.
They do not propose to do anything more. I am sure they do not have the expertise.
Where do I go next?

The sensor is not a complex repair - check out tascaparts.com to get a sense of the price. With that said, it sounds to me like your shop doesn't have the correct tool to view/reset the fault code and you should be finding a volvo friendly shop or a dealer who has the right tool to view/test/reset climate control codes.

No connection
There's no connection between any IAQS sensor and the operation of your AC.
The sensor sits just in front of the recirc door in the cowl.
I read a bit about these sensors when I got my '07 which has one.
The sensor was rumored to have been taken from the VAG parts bin (which makes sense to me). The VAG p/n 1K0907659 is for for pre-facelift cars.
Another thread revealed p/n 08665059 as being off a pre-facelift Volvo sensor.
Yet another thread cited p/n 31369324 to be for facelift cars.
The shocker was that these sensors run about $240 as I recall.
I throw these numbers at you just in case they come up during your repair. If your guy tomorrow gets your AC blowing cold air I can understand you forgetting to ask about the darn IAQS sensor.
Thanks in advance for getting back to us.

Thanks and diagnostic by Volvo repairer
Thanks Georgeandkira, most helpful.
The interesting thing is that when I started the car this morning, the air conditioning WAS working! A complete mystery!
My Volvo repairer carried out a diagnostic test, and confirmed that (a) the air quality sensor is not faulty.
(b) If it had been that, it would not have affected the air conditioning.
(c) he diagnosed fault code 500a, which is system pressure switch faulty. As a result of this, the fan is drawing air through the A/c condenser inconsistently, and I can hear a whine from it probably about 60% of the time.
I might seek a third opinion on the diagnostics before getting the system pressure switch replaced.
In case anybody is interested, the cost for replacing the system pressure switch will be parts £62, labour 1.55 hours = £65, regas £45 (UK currency), total £172
Thanks once again

I would recommend checking the air gap at the compressor. On a car of this age I typically find that the gap has worn to the point that it cannot hold engagement when warm.
I also agree with above that the air quality sensor will not keep the system from running. The most you would get is a fault code. No biggie.

update on aircon
Thanks, Tony for your input.
Later that morning, the aircon ceased to operate again.
My Volvo repairer worked on the car the following morning, replaced the the pressure sensor, and re-gassed.
Pleased to say the air conditioning is now working fully, and he managed to find the same part £20 cheaper.
My thanks once again to all who contributed.
