Default AW55 Trans question

Hello to all. Looking at buying a 2002 V70 for an electric conversion project.
Have been into ev's for a while and own 3 already so I have most of the EV conversion stuff worked out.

Per the auto trans, as I understand it, it's an electronically controlled trans in that it needs an ecu or some electronic gizmo to help it or make it shift. If that's true, is there any way to make the trans shift without electronic assistance. The hope is to have an auto trans that will shift by itself dependent on rpms or other manual factors.
If there isn't a simple way to convert the auto trans I'll just put in a manual.... if I can find one. Thanks in advance for info.

It can only be shifted by the solenoids. What you want is something to control the solenoids (maybe). With an EV conversion you might decide to just put it in one gear and leave it.
