electrical service required message

2002 V70 with 84k miles. For a couple weeks I 've been getting a brief warning every time I started the car. Then it would go off - no issues.
Today while stuck in traffic I heard a clicking from under the dash, and the electrical service required message came up. And the red battery light came on. The car ran fine, and I made it home about 5 miles.
I had dinner and went out to change the battery, and the warning message did not come up, and no battery light.
Any ideas on the cause?
The alternator was replaced about 10k miles ago.

I assume they replaced the voltage regulator too. I had the same message and replaced the voltage regulator on the alternator and the message disappeared. Our car has alot more miles on it. Try and use the search option on this forum with the exact message displayed maybe you will get some more ideas.

It may be because of current leakage. I have faced the same problem them i call to Braetex Electrical to repair. They told me the reason why i am facing this problem.
