Default engine starting issues

Hello there,

A few months ago we found a low mileage '06 V70 with 60k miles in fantastic shape, but every time you start the engine it revs high for about 10 seconds or so, and then settles at idle.

This is normal for a cold engine, but it does it every single time even with the engine hot, what could be the cause?

On the Bosch L FI system used on the Fiat X1/9 and my Alfa Milano, the Thermo Time Switch controls the cold idle, does Volvo uses something like that as well? If so, where is located and how do I check it?

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Regards, Gilles
