Manual swap, which transmissions work?
I was looking at doing a manual swap to an '01 t5, it has a manual optional mode but the shift flare from park to drive and 2-3 is getting a bit worse. Was wondering if the M66 from the 2004 R style would work, or if it wouldn't as it's an AWD car and mine is FWD. If not, what others would be cost efficient/would actually work? I know I'd need at least a new set of axles, pedals, shifter, clutch, wiring? and an ECU flash tune - any other definite parts I would need for this project? I have a local garage willing to do the work, but they don't get many volvo's through the door - would like to know what parts I need before sending it in and avoid any surprises. I've done a bunch of engine work on this car like PCV replacement but I have not looked at how transmissions or shifting works at all. Help appreciated. Thanks!

most common way of doing a conversion is to buy a parts car (it can be an NA model) with a manual transmission so you get the pedals, wiring harnesses, clutch, flywheel etc. The only other thing to do is to rewire the PNP circuit (as the AT shifter parts won't exist) - there are some other posts which dicusses this.
