Need advice before buying high mileage Volvo V70 XC!
Hey all,
I'm in the process of buying my first car and getting a Volvo has always been a dream of mine (maybe because I'm Swedish, LOL!).
I found a Volvo V70 XC, a Volvo xc70 2.4 TDI 185 CV D5 AWD Momentum geatronic, that has caught my interest. The car is from 2007, it has only had one owner who has used it predominantly for business trips (aka mostly highway driving) and it has been regularly serviced by certified Volvo dealerships.
The one thing that scares me is the high kilometres - 368000km and that the price might be a bit high considering - 6000€ (7000$).
The seller is not the first owner but rather a dealership that has great reviews on Google which is reassuring.
Any advice on this would be highly appreciated as I'm not very experienced. Please let me know as well if there is some key information that you'd want to know before providing your advice. I might have missed something.
Thanks in advance!

225K miles is not a crazy high number of miles, what's more important is driving history (highway miles? thats a good thing) and the maintenance history. For a comparison, my wife's Toyota Highlander has 210K miles (~340K km) and is in great shape and very reliable, probabably good for another 3-5 years or until the Subaru Outback comes out with an electric :-) ,
So I'd say since its been dealer maintained you should be able to view the history. Has the transmission fluid ever been changed out? The Volvo Geartronic is really a 6 speed Aisin at heart which has proven to be reliable in Toyota/Lexus so that's not a worry. TDIs being oil burners tend to wear longer than gas cars (no petrol to wash the oil off the cylinder walls) so assuming the history reads well the car may be worth a go. Since you are unsure of the high mileage, use that in your favor as a negotiating point to lower the asking price.

Thank you so much for your reply I think I will go for the purchase. Currently the garage offers me three months of guarantee I think I might ask for six months instead as a as a way to negotiate rather than going down on the price as we get new tires and a lot of things has been changed recently.
Once I have it, with hopefully everything going smooth with the insurance company, I’ll post a picture of it as it’s a beautiful car and the interior is really retro (light brown).
