Its been doing this for a while and has gotten worse. I can turn the radio on and it plays well, but after a while it will switch form FM1 to FM2, then 3, and then to cd player. I never use the cd.

Is this common among the older cars or is it just mine? Anyone else have this issue, and if so what was the fix?

It happened occasionally with my '02 and is doing so occasionally with my '07. Seems to happen going over bumps....more station changes than FM1 to 2 to 3 changes.

My "highjack/add-on question" would be, "Has your CD player begun to fail ejecting the CD completely yet?". Damn thing.

 

I have never used the cd player. But it will switch stations and go to cd player, even though there is no cd in it.

 

The CD player in my 2004 V70 was doing that. I think while coaxing it to hand one over I may have made it worse because it kind of ruined "The Cars" CD and I've given up using it. Cassette deck works great but other that a few books on tape, I don't have anything on cassette.

I used to do my own srereo installs in my 200s but they are more complex now. Car Toys put one in my 850 and it was really reasonable but pricing it out for the V70 is kinda jaw dropping and they are pretty clear that the stereo controls on the steering wheel won't work with a new install. Wondered about picking up on from the pic-n-pull but that might not work any better than what I have.
Since you've had a few V70s have you replaced a stereo in one? If you have how did it go?
