Default should I buy this v70?

My experience is limited to 240's, but I have a line on an affordable v70 . 2001, no turbo, 269, 000 km. Price is reasonable, maintenance history is sketchy, but probably by the book.
Any thoughts on what to look for, or comments on this year of car?

that's not really super high miles so the car probably has something left but there are common maintenance areas for this car

1) timing belt - due every 10 years 120K miles/200 Km so the car should be on its third belt or is due
2) PCV systems tend to clog after about 150K miles so you should test to see if it needs service (google or see Youtube for the "rubber glove test"
3) common problem areas also include the ETM (throttle body) so google Xemodex to see what symptoms that would present. They also rebuild ABS modules and CEMs which can get cracks in the solder joints

The rest is regular wear and tear items so for a new to you car, you should consider a professional inspection (on a lift, pull the wheels etc). These are good cars to work on yourself if you have the tools/skills/place - otherwise plan for some maintenance time/money.

2001 (or 2000 in some markets) was the first year of that body and transmission. I made a whole lot of money fixing that year model. For some customers they seemed to have a $800 to $1000 repair every couple of months. It was sad to see and hard to explain. Had some very frustrated 2001 customers.

Things that broke - boosters, trans problems, throttle modules, radiators, ac compressors, axles, alternators, control arm bushings, other front end components, Clogged pcv system problems and the leaks they cause, the rubber trim on the sides of the windshield that dries out, look bad and can't be purchased any longer - it's no longer manufactured. - Don't pay too much and perhaps have a prepurchase inspection by someone who knows those older Volvos - that car is over 20 years old now.

Thank you both for the feedback. I think I'll simply pass on it, and wait till I get an opportunity to buy one of my preferred models
